Editing a Car File? Sponsor Name

Not a huge issue, but how do people get characters like "&" and "/" into the Sponsor line of a car? You can not type it, is there a special keystroke or do you need to edit the car file? If so, what "unpacks" a car file to edit things like that?

I did search and am usually pretty handy with this stuff, if I missed it just point me to the thread. Thanks!
